RARe is accredited as a Research Infrastructure (IR)

RARe is a research infrastructure open to all research units and to all public and private research players.

A number of charters define the operation and accessibility criteria around several key principles: openness, sharing, transparency, access to data, economic sustainability and regulatory compliance.

Research infrastructure included in the national roadmap of the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI)

Since 2016, RARe has been included in the national roadmap for research infrastructures, in the "Earth and Environmental System Sciences" domain of the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI).

The inclusion of a research infrastructure on the national roadmap is a mark of quality and recognition of its value in the National Research Strategy. The roadmap is regularly updated by MESRI, in consultation with research alliances and institutions.

RARe is the reference infrastructure for securing, documenting and distributing the Earth system's biosphere resources. These include genetic, genomic and biological resources gathered and characterized by research on domesticated animals, model or cultivated plants, related wild species, forestry species, micro-organisms of agronomic or food interest, and microbiota, micro-organisms and organisms from the environment. RARe is positioned in the ‘Earth System and Environment’ chapter of the roadmap, while playing an important role in fundamental biology research (animal, plant, microbial) with applications in health (animal models of genetic diseases), biotechnology and agroecology.

On October 11, 2021, the General Directorate for Research and Innovation of the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) announced the inclusion of RARe in the National Roadmap for Research Infrastructures 2021, with the Research Infrastructure (RI) label. The purpose of the Feuille de Route Nationale 2021 is to spell out France's strategy in the field of Research Infrastructures until the next update, scheduled for 2025. This renewal of RARE's position on the National Roadmap for Research Infrastructures testifies to the recognition of our infrastructure and confirms the relevance of our objectives.
